The Committee on Development met on Monday, 23 April and Tuesday, 24 April. On Monday, MEPs debated forest management, humanitarian financing and EU Trust Funds. DEVE Members also discussed conclusions from fact finding missions to the Central African Republic and to Senegal.

On Tuesday, committee members voted on the revised Union Civil Protection Mechanism, the upcoming negotiations on a renewed partnership with African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries, rights of indigenous peoples, and European agriculture. Jointly with the trade committee Members enquired about follow-up to the EU flagship initiative for the garment sector.

The committee also exchanged with the new Ambassador of the African Union on AU reform. MEPs then heard on the situation in Eastern Congo's Virunga National Park, discussed post-conflict development needs in Iraq and got an update on the implementation of the EU's External Investment Plan.
